Another award for Derry’s Brendan Rogers

By Michael McMullan

DERRY star Brendan Rogers was named as the PwC Gaelic Players Association Footballer of the Month for May.

The Sleacth Néill man made his 50th senior appearance for Derry in their win over Tyrone and had another stellar performance in their victory over Monaghan.

He capped it off with three points in an all action display as Derry saw off Donegal after extra-time to land a first Ulster SFC title since 1998.

Rogers saw off competition from Dublin’s Con O’Callaghan and Shane Walsh of Galway.

Derry now face Clare in the All-Ireland quarter-finals, with the winners set to play Armagh or Galway in the semi-finals.
