Scotstown aiming to bounce back

Colin McAree (manager), Diarmuid Scullion, Brian McGinnity and Kevin Boylan (selectors).

Championship programme:

Monaghan SFC Group Two

Scotstown v Truagh Gaels, July 26

Latton v Scotsotwn, August 2

Scotstown v Carrickmacross, August 9

Castleblayney v Scotstown, August 16

Team news:

Scotstown’s attempts to complete the club’s second-ever five in-a-row came a cropper last year as Clontibret defeated them in surprisingly easy fashion. Colin McAree, who has been part of the senior management team in the past, is now back in as manager and he will be hoping that the hunger is back after last year’s loss. Interestingly, despite their incredible success and their obvious talent (they have six players on the Monaghan squad), the club is almost in a transitional phase with young players like Matt Maguire, Jason Carey and Mick Meehan set to get plenty of game-time. Midfielder Mick McCarville will be a big absence through injury although Cian Mohan and Sean Mohan have returned to the squad.
