ALTHOUGH full GAA activities are not yet back to normal, there are still many clubs providing health and well-being support to their members and wider community.
In the main, indoor GAA facilities remain closed but by using the outdoor spaces, and online platforms, some great work can continue. Healthy Club Officers have likely been busy with keeping their club safe as training and games have resumed, and many were heavily involved in the initial Covid Community Response schemes. As more people are vaccinated and restrictions ease, we hope that our clubs can return to the hives of activity they once were, albeit possibly with some advances in how we conduct our business.
The Ulster GAA Health & Well-being microsite has been revamped and should be a good point of information for clubs looking for advice and ideas on many health and wellbeing topics.
The health and well-being microsite can be accessed from Ulster GAA’s webpage, or directly by visiting: https:ulster.gaa.iehealth
The Our Programmes section contains eight general areas of programmes and campaigns that clubs and counties may wish to get involved in, namely: General Health, HCO Support, Physical Activity, Mental Health, Making Good Choices, Dealing with Critical Incidents, Donation Campaigns, and First Aid & Defibrillators. Each section contains information on what a programme might entail, and where to get further information or support.
All the necessary resources for a Healthy Club Officer, and supplementary resources for other programmes are contained within each section.
For a number of our campaigns, we have linked with an expert partner, and links to their websites are also accessible from the page.
Our Latest News section features up-to-date news stories which relate to health and well-being.
Although mostly through Ulster GAA, we are happy to feature good news stories from clubs and counties.
If you are running a programme that you would like featured on the site, please send a short press release on the programme, and high-resolution photograph to maura.mcmenamin.ulster@gaa.ie.
Finally, if there you cannot get information on a programme which you are interested in, please contact the email address above and we will endeavour to help in any way we can.
You might also like to use the national GAA website for some of GAA’s national campaigns. Please visit https:www.gaa.iemy-gaacommunity-and-health.
