CAVAN SENIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 3

Ballinagh v Kingscourt

Friday, Kingspan Breffni, 8pm

IT’S top v bottom as senior action resumes after the week break. Ballinagh have lost both games with the Stars one of the teams with a 100 per cent record so far. Kingscourt to make it three.

Verdict: Kingscourt

Arva v Ballyhaise

Saturday, Ballinagh, 6pm

THE sides have locked horns at intermediate level and are now doing battle at the top table. Arva will have Ciarán Brady back from suspension. It could be enough to tip the scales.

Verdict: Arva

Gowna v Mullahoran

Saturday, Kingspan Breffni, 7pm

NEITHER side have lost a game to so far and come into this game with hopes to progress in the title race. It’s a toss of coin here and the teams could meet when it thickens up later. Gowna to shade it.

Verdict: Gowna

Castlerahan v Cavan Gaels

Sunday, Kingspan Breffni, 2pm

THIS is pressure. As two of the sides to lose both games, this is a bridge between a relegation battle and going into Round Four with hopes of making the quarter-finals. The Gaels’ performances have been better. Will that make the difference?

Verdict: Cavan Gaels

Killygarry v Crosserlough

Sunday, Kingspan Breffni, 4pm

THE champions have won both games to date and will be the fancied horse to make it a third win. Killygarry lost to Arva before beating Laragh United. Crosserlough will wear the favourites’ tag.

Verdict: Crosserlough

Laragh United v Ramor United

Sunday, Lavey, 6pm

LARAGH are rooted to the bottom on score difference, having lost both games. Ramor won a second league title earlier this season. After losing to Mullahoran, Ramor hit Arva for six goals before the championship break.

Verdict: Ramor United

CAVAN INTERMEDIATE FOOTBALLCHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 4

Cuchullians v Shercock

Saturday, Ramor, 5pm

CUCHULLAINS are the title favourites with three wins so far and are fancied to finish the round-robin phase in top spot. Shercock need a victory to give them a chance of staying out of the relegation battle on score difference.

Verdict: Cuchullians

Killinkere v Butlersbridge

Saturday, Redhills, 5pm

THEIR eye for goal last weekend has Killinkere looking up the table towards the knock-out stages. Unbeaten Butlersbridge are in the same boat, having dropped their only point in Sunday’s draw with Knockbride. There could be plenty of goals here.

Verdict: Killinkere

Drumlane v Ballymachugh

Saturday, Killeshandra, 5pm

DRUMLANE are rooted to the bottom, having lost to two of the bigger hitters. Ballymachugh sit on four points and ran Cootehill all the way. They’ll want to keep hammering on and are on form.

Verdict: Ballymachugh

Cornafean v Drumgoon

Saturday, Kingspan Breffni, 5pm

DRUMGOON are another team with zero points to their name after three rounds although they pushed Cuchullians close last weekend. Cornafean are more consistent and could get the job done here.

Verdict: Cornafean

Denn v Lacken

Saturday, Kilnaleck, 5pm

DENN were winners over Drumlane and lost two of their games by a point. Lacken have been competitive in all their outings as well. Little seperates them in the table. The game of the weekend with a quarter-final spot at stake.

Verdict: Denn

Knockbride v Lavey

Saturday, Drumalee, 5pm

KNOCKBRIDE’S only point came in last weekend’s draw with Butlersbridge. Lavey beat Denn at the weekend. Something has to give this weekend as the championship heats up.

Verdict: Knockbride

Bailieborough v Cootehill

Saturday, O’Raghallaigh Park, 5pm

BOTH teams have won all three games to date but it’s the Shamrocks’ first big test of the season. They’ll know more about themselves on Sunday night. Cootehill will also be keen to lay down a marker ahead of the quarter-finals.

Verdict: Bailieborough

CAVAN JUNIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 4

Killeshandra v Kildallan

Thursday, Templeport, 7.30pm

BOTH teams have struggled for form this season. Kildallan have only one win to their name in league and championship. Killeshandra have two, including their 1-13 to 0-9 win over Kildallan.

Verdict: Killeshandra
