Mickey Moran (Kilcoo)
The former Derry All-Ireland winning coach has built up a wealth of experience in the game at club and county level. After winning three Ulster title with Sleacht Néill, Moran has fitted like a glove in Kilcoo and has taken the Magpies to a second consecutive All-Ireland appearance. He brought calmness to the Down Kingpins and his magic touch was the extra ingredient to help them reach their new heights.
Hugh McGrath (Steelstown)
A native of Saul in County Down, McGrath moved to Derry and has been heavily involved in the growth of the club’s underage structures. He was involved with the seniors in their last promotion to senior football and came back on board this season. McGrath, who was recently appointed as Derry GAA’s Coaching Officer, led a management team that delivered a first ever championship for Steelstown, backing it up with an Ulster and All-Ireland titles in style.
Stephen Baxter (Denn)
Baxter steered this native Ballymachugh to the 2017 Cavan JFC and lost out to eventual champions Naomh Colmcille of Donegal in Ulster.
After coming on board with Denn, he helped them to the 2020 final where a poor start cost them against Templeport.
It added the extra incentive that helped power them through this year’s competition and after they won the title, it was the springboard for Ulster success before eventually going down to Gneeveguilla of Kerry.
