Carryduff and Kilcoo in the running for All-Star

KILCOO ruled the roost once again in Down and two Magpies make the final three for the Mourne county’s Men’s All-Stars while first-time finalists Carryduff also make the cut with one nominee.

JEROME JOHNSTON (KILCOO)
Johnston showed a ruthless streak and a keen eye for goal as the Magpies continued their recent domination in Down. Started the championship season with a stunning goal late on in the win over Mayobridge and his three-pointer against Burren wasn’t bad either. Also hit the net against Rostrevor and kicked four points between the semi-final and final.

EUGENE BRANGAN (KILCOO)
Law of averages dictates that when Kilcoo are nominated for awards, one of the five Branagan brothers will get the nod – and this it’s Eugene’s turn. All-action and very effective as the Magpies claimed yet another county title and he had an excellent final against Carryduff. Got up the field for three points in the semi-final against Warrenpoint too.

CONOR CASSIDY (CARRYDUFF)
It was a special season for Carryduff as they reached their first-ever final and a lot of that owed to the exceptional work of Conor Cassidy. Came up against top forwards like Jerome Johnston, Danny Savage, Tiernan Rushe and Michael Ireland and performed very well against them all. Also did a bit of fire-fighting in midfield.
