GAELIC Life columnist John Martin believes that the All-Ireland Hurling Championship is strong enough to absorb the blows of Congress.

In the aftermath of last weekend’s convention, members of the hurling fraternity admitted their concerns at the increase in football matches, believing it would marginalize hurling. Martin offers a different view, however.

“While there’s no doubt that hurling will now be fighting for column inches with football on weekends that were previously the preserve of hurling, personally I think the latter stages of the Hurling Championship can stand on their own two feet,” he said.
