Colm Cooper is a player who had fantastic skills

In his column in this week’s Gaelic Life, John Morrison cites New Zealander Sonny Bill Williams as a man who understands skills.

And Morrison said that the key to succeeding in invasion games is the promotion of good skills.

He said: “New Zealander Sonny Bill Williams was the player of the tournament in the last Rugby World Cup.

“He attributes this to his superb skills, honed by club, province and international coaches, but also by coaches that he hired himself.

“His philosophy is that skill is still king in any invasion game.

“Sonny Bill develops only the degree of strength and power needed to play his position at his best, a role model for all sports players to follow.”

Morrison then goes on to explain how a coach should teach skills to his or her players.
