In his column in this week’s Gaelic Life, John Morrison reveals the mistake that many players and teams make in their preparation.

He points out that many teams have aspirations to win, but they don’t understand the difference between wanting to win, and actually winning.

“It’s easy to dream: ‘I wish I could win’, or to say ‘I want to win’ but the reason why so many sports people never win is that they are not prepared to do what it takes to prepare to win.

“The will to prepare must be stronger than the will to win. Many players know what it takes to win, but don’t actually do so.

“‘Knowing how to win, but not doing so’ produces the same result as ‘not knowing how to win’.

“Players or teams win do so not because of ‘what’ they are doing but win because of how they are preparing to win.”
