Award for Saffron shooting star Orlaith Prenter

ANTRIM forward Orlaith Prenter has been honoured with The Croke Park/LGFA Player of the Month award for May.

The 23-year-old Moneyglass attacker – last year’s Gaelic Life Player of te Year, has been in stunning form in 2023 and played a key role in May as Antrim claimed an historic TG4 Ulster Intermediate Championship win.

Orlaith scored six points against Monaghan in the round-robin phase early in the month, a result that secured a safe passage to the Ulster Final for the Saffrons.

But there was more to come and on May 28, Antrim made history by landing the Ulster Intermediate title for the first time in the county’s history, with Orlaith scoring 1-8 in a 2-18 to 1-13 victory over Tyrone.

This was the latest piece of silverware for a rising Antrim outfit, following on from 2022 TG4 All-Ireland Junior Championship glory, and Lidl National League Division 4 success in April of this year.

Orlaith scored eight points and landed the Player of the Match award in April as Antrim defeated Leitrim to win the Division 4 title and clinch promotion to Division 3.

Last Sunday, Orlaith was at her brilliant best once again, scoring 1-7 against Westmeath in the opening round of the 2023 TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate Championship.

Antrim’s next Championship outing is against Longford at the Erin’s Own club in Cargin on Sunday June 25.

Orlaith was presented with her Player of the Month award this afternoon by Edele O’Reilly, Director of Sales and Marketing, The Croke Park.
