Club previews: Armagh Intermediate Championship gets underway

ARMAGH INTERMEDIATE FOOTBALLCHAMPIONSHIP ROUND ONE

TÍR NA NÓG V WOLFE TONES

Friday, Davitt Park, 7.30pm

THIS one could go right down to the wire and even though Tír na nÓg have been operating at a lower division this season, they have huge momentum following their promotion and may just get the job done here.

Verdict: Tir na nOg

TULLYSARAN V CROSSMAGLEN II

Friday, Clady, 7.30pm

TULLYSARAN have been knocking on the door of the Intermediate Championship for a few years now and despite missing some key personnel, they remain favourites to make it through to the next round.

Verdict: Tullysaran

SHANE O’NEILL’S V WHITECROSS

Saturday, Crossmaglen, 4pm

IT could be a case of how much Shane O’Neill’s are going to win this by. The Shane’s won Division 2A while Whitecross were relegated having not won a single game and the Camlough men remain one of the big hitters in the championship.

Verdict: Shane O’Neill’s

CULLOVILLE V KEADY

Saturday, Crossmaglen, 6pm

CULLOVILLE were the surprise package in the championship last year, reaching the final having been relegated from Division 2A. They bounced straight back up this year with a league title and will have too much firepower for Keady.

Verdict: Culloville

BALLYHEGAN V COLLEGELAND

Sunday, An Port Mor, 1.30pm

BOTH sides face into this one knowing it could be the last intermediate game they play this year as both suffered relegation from Division 2B. Ballyhegan have been hit with retirements and injuries so Collegeland should prevail.

Verdict: Collegeland

ST PAUL’S V CLONMORE

Sunday, Wolfe Tones, 1.30pm

CLONMORE were also relegated to the Junior division while St Paul’s were in the promotion shake up heading into the final few games. In Shane McConville they have one of the best managers in the county and should get through this one.

Verdict: St Paul’s

ST PETER’S V ANNAGHMORE

Sunday, Athletic Grounds, 4pm

BOTH teams were relegated to intermediate football last year and St Peter’s reacted much better than their opponents, who have ended up in Division 2B. St Peter’s are one of the favourites for championship gold and will kick start their charge with a win.

Verdict: St Peter’s

FORKHILL V BELLEEK

Sunday, Athletic Grounds, 6pm

THE last time these two clashed was the 2020 Junior Championship final, which Forkhill won after a replay and extra time. Paddy Burns has since moved to Burren while Jemar Hall is suspended so Belleek may have enough to get over the line.

Verdict: Belleek
