Murphy named as new Ballymacnab manager

FORMER Armagh Ladies manager Ronan Murphy has been appointed as the new boss of Ballymacnab.

Murphy guided the Orchard County to three Ulster Championship titles in a row from 2020-2022 during his three-year stint.

The Edendork clubman led Armagh to the last four of the All-Ireland race in 2020, where Dublin ended their involved, while they reached the quarter-finals in 2021 and 2022.

They also reached the Division Two league final in 2022, but lost out in Croke Park to Kerry, the same side that ended their championship involved last summer.

Murphy takes over the reigns at the Round Tower club, replacing the outgoing Barry Dillon who spent two seasons with the Nab.

Under Dillon, Ballymacnab claimed the Division 1B league title in 2022 but suffered relegation from Division 1A this year.

In the championship during the Derry natives tenure, Ballymacnab were knocked out at the quarter-final stage both seasons.

Murphy has experienced Armagh club football before having guided Ballyhegan to the Junior Championship title in 2017.
