Armagh footballer Grimley set for lengthy lay-off with serious neck injury

ARMAGH footballer Niall Grimley is set for a prolonged spell on the sidelines after breaking a bone in his neck during training yesterday evening (Friday).

Grimely is set to undergo surgery early next week at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, and while there is no official prognosis at this stage, it’s likely that he’ll miss the remainder of this season’s championship with Armagh, who are set to play in a round one qualifier clash against Tyrone next Sunday.

The 28-year-old year is one of the Orchard County’s most experience players, and while he’s been stationed at midfield for much of his career, he played in a wing-back role in their Ulster Championship defeat to Donegal last month.
