Cavan still leading the way in second tier

Cavan continue to set the pace in Division 2 after they just about squeezed rivals Fermanagh out in Brewster Park on Saturday evening.

The Breffni outfit did trail by 1-5 to 0-7 at the break. But two goals in the second period by full-back Pauric Faulkner and midfielder Thomas Galligan swung the momentum back their direction. Fermanagh are now in real bother, just one place off the bottom ahead of Clare on score difference.

The win leaves Cavan on top with six points while Armagh are now one of the pace having being held to a draw away to Westmeath at the weekend in an entertaining 3-12 to 2-15 draw at Cusack Park.

The Orchard side took an eight-point lead in with them at the break. But a 12-point turnaround from Westmeath pushed them four to the good approaching the end.

But Kieran McGeeney had Jamie Clarke to thank as his goal made sure Armagh at least had a point to show for their efforts leaving the Lake County.
