Championship hopes on the line in Cavan SFC

CAVAN SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTER-FINALS

CAVAN GAELS V GOWNA

Friday, Kingspan Breffni, 8pm

A HUGE contest as last year’s beaten champions Gowna take on the might of Cavan Gaels. Jason Reilly’s Cavan Gaels came through the group stages as the only team to win alll four of their matches, while Gowna were fortunate enough to sneak into the top eight. The Gaels are in top form and can book their place in the semis.

Verdict: Cavan Gaels

CROSSERLOUGH V LACKEN

Saturday, Kingspan Breffni, 7.30pm

CROSSERLOUGH are bidding for their second title in three years and are favourites to get the better of Lacken this weekend. Lacken have had a very solid season under Mickey O’Connor and they did reasonably well against Crosserlough when they met in the group stages, losing by 1-15 to 1-10.

Verdict: Crosserlough

KILLYGARRY V KINGSCOURT STARS

Sunday, Kingspan Breffni, 4pm

KILLYGARRY have done extremely well in the championship to date, and finished second in the table with three wins and a draw from four games. Kingscourt are regular contenders but they might lose out here.

Verdict: Killygarry

RAMOR UNITED V MULLAHORAN

Sunday, Kingspan Breffni, 7pm

A POTENTIAL banana skin for reigning champions Ramor. James Brady is a big miss and Ado Cole is another injury doubt, so underdogs Mullahoran will fancy their chances of causing an upset. We’ll still go for the favourites to find a way to win.

Verdict: Ramor
