Rian O’Neill named on Armagh squad but starts on the bench

RIAN O’Neill has been listed in the Armagh squad for Saturday’s Ulster Championship quarter-final against Cavan but will start the game on the bench.

O’Neill had been sidelined with a quad injury and missed Armagh’s last two games, against Tyrone in the league and Antrim in the Ulster Championship opener.

James Morgan and Tiernan Kelly have been axed from the line-up that defeated the Saffrons by nine-points, with Conor O’Neill and Andrew Murnin coming into the team.

O’Neill picked up a quad injury in Armagh’s one-point defeat to Kerry in round four of the league and has been on the treatment table since.

Murnin on the other hand tweaked his hamstring against Tyrone and missed the Antrim game but returns at full forward.

Kieran McGeeney has a strong bench to call on with likes of Rian O’Neill, Jarly Óg Burns, Callum Cumiskey and Aidan Nugent.

Armagh: Ethan Rafferty; Conor O’Neill, Aaron McKay, Aidan Forker; Greg McCabe, Ciaran Mackin, Barry McCambridge; Ben Crealey, Shane McPartlan; Stefan Campbell, Jemar Hall, Jason Duffy; Rory Grugan, Andrew Murnin, Conor Turbitt

Subs: Shea Magill, Ciaran Higgins, Connaire Mackin, Callum Cumiskey, Ross McQuillan, Stephen Sheridan, Jarly Og Burns, Oisin Conaty, Rian O’Neill, Aidan Nugent, Cian McConville.
