League titles up for grabs in Fermanagh

By Shaun Casey

THERE will be silverware handed out in the Erne County this weekend with the Division One, Two and Three league titles all up for grabs across Saturday and Sunday.

Derrygonnelly and Teemore Shamrocks will battle it out on Sunday afternoon, 4.15pm, just seven days on from their most recent league clash.

They locked horns last Sunday, at St Mary’s Park, Teemore and with Derrygonnelly’s spot in the league final already secured, the Shamrocks needed the result more than their opponents.

Oisin Murphy was the main man up top for the home side, and he racked up 0-6 in their 1-15 to 0-9 victory, with Cian McManus rattling the net from the game’s very first attack.

Teemore will be expecting a much tougher test in the league decider and Derrygonnelly will have their sights set on capturing the league title at Brewster Park.

Ederney finished top of the pile in Division Two, 11 points clear of their league final opponents Kinawley, but will have to win on Saturday evening, 6pm at Brewster Park to guarantee promotion.

Gary Wilson’s men bagged four goals last week as they dashed Roslea’s hopes of competing in the final. Kinawley hammered Newtownbutler to earn second spot in the table, with Tiarnan McKenna, Dara Cathcart and Ben Corrigan all raising green flags.

St Patrick’s Donagh and Tempo Maguire’s will contest the Division Three finale, as a curtain raiser to the Division One final, and promotion to the second tier is also up for grabs.

One point split them at the top of the table, with Tempo Maguire’s in the number one position, but 28 points was the difference when they clashed last weekend, with Donagh coming out of that game second best.

St Patrick’s were already in the league final, no matter about the result, so the game meant more to Tempo and that’s exactly how the encounter panned out.
