Opponents: Donegal’s Gerard Gilmore

Name: Gerard Gilmore.

Age: 27.

Teams playing for: Setanta and Donegal.

What team have you enjoyed the most success against?

Not sure if I could pick out any specific team, but any day that you win a game is a great feeling no matter who it is against.

Which team have you enjoyed least success against?

I would say Wicklow, any time I have played them I’ve always came out on the wrong side of the result.

Which player have you enjoyed marking?

Wouldn’t say I have enjoyed people marking me, but I do enjoy when players come out and play good hard but fair hurling and we both challenge each other for every ball. We shake hands after it and appreciate each other’s game.

Which player have you disliked marking?

I dislike marking them all as I am a forward. I would prefer to be unmarked but unfortunately, it’s not that easy.

Which team or opponents has been the most physical?

I always found when playing against Down they have been very physical but fair, and it is always a good game of hurling when we meet.

Which team or player that you have played against were the most skilful?

Going back a few years, but when I was playing Antrim they were definitely the most skilful team I’ve played against.

What’s the most frustrating defeat you have experienced?

Most frustrating defeat I have had was a few years back we went in as hot favourites against a team in the quarter finals and ended up getting beat – never forget it.

What’s the most satisfying win you have experienced?

I would say it was this year’s (2020) Nicky Rackard final when we beat Mayo as we were underdogs. We had a poor start in the first 20 minutes and we went behind. So coming out on top after that game was a great feeling.
