Seven All-Star nominations for Cavan while Donegal and Armagh also represented

CAVAN’S Ulster title and run to the All-Ireland semi-final has been rewarded with seven PwC GAA/GPA All-Star nominations while Donegal (3) and Armagh (1) are also represented on the 45-player list.

Goalkeeper Raymond Galligan, defenders Ciarán Brady, Padraig Faulkner, Gerry Smith, midfielder Gearóid McKiernan and attackers Thomas Galligan and Martin Reilly have all been short-listed.

Beaten Ulster finalists Donegal have earned three nominations with Peadar Mogan in defence and forwards Michael Langan and Ciarán Thompson selected.

Armagh, meanwhile, have also been recognised as defender Aidan Forker is included.

Unsurprisingly, Dublin lead the way with 13 nominations while beaten All-Ireland finalists Mayo have 12. Munster champions Tipperary have four nominations, Galway have two while Limerick, Cork and Kerry are also represented.

Dublin duo Brian Fenton and Ciarán Kilkenny will battle it out for the Player of the Year award along with Mayo’s Cillian O’Connor.

The Connacht side are guaranteed to pick up the Young Player of the Year award as Oisín Mullin, Tommy Conroy and Eoghan McLaughlin have all been nominated.

It is intended that the presentation of the PwC All-Star awards will take place late next month in a TV show that will be in line with Covid-19 restrictions. That is yet to be confirmed though.
