DERRY duo Damian McErlain and Gavin McGeehan have been stepped into the managerial vacancy at Tyrone club Dungannon Clarkes following last week’s departure of James Slater.

Slater, who was in his third season at the helm, pulled the pin after a serious of disappointing results in Division One.

They clinched a morale-boosting win over Donaghmore last Friday night under temporary player-manager Paddy Quinn, and now the club has moved to appointed Damian McErlain and Gavin McGeehan for the remainder of the season.

McErlain, who is from Magherafelt, and McGeehan, a Ballinderry clubman, have formed a steady partnership over the years and are currently at the head of the Derry U20s. McErlain has extensive experience managing Derry underage teams, and also led the county’s seniors in 2018 and 2019. McGeehan was also on board in a coaching capacity during that two-year stint.
