DUNGANNAON Clarkes manager James Slater has stepped away after a poor run of results in Division One of the All County Leagues.

The Clarkes are bottom of the table and fell to their most recent defeat on Monday night at the hands of Moortown with just seven rounds of league action remaining.

It’s been a disappointing campaign to date for a team that are now in very danger of dropping back to the Intermediate ranks for the first time since their Division Two play-off victory over Aghyaran in November 2018 delivered promotion to the top tier.

They subsequently won the O’Neill Cup under Christopher Rafferty in 2020, before Slater took the reins of his home club at the outset of the 2024 season.

Slater guided Dungannon to their first-ever Division One title in his first season at the helm with a victory over Carrickmore, and they also had a solid 2025 season, reaching another league final, though on this occasion they lost to Trillick.

Slater has now stepped aside less than two months from the start of the championship, and it is yet to be confirmed who will step into the vacant managerial role.
