Cavanagh won’t be surprised if McKenna goes in from the off

RECENT Tyrone retiree Colm Cavanagh says he wouldn’t be at all surprised if Conor McKenna is thrown into the starting line-up sooner than most people expect.

Cavanagh, who was speaking in an in-depth interview which will be run in next week’s edition of Gaelic Life, says that the former AFL star is “too good” to leave sat on the bench.

“It’s brilliant news, he’s a great lad and a fantastic talent. I know him a bit personally, I’ve played with his brothers (Ryan and Emmett) with Tyrone and I genuinely believe he’ll make a big difference.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if he starts from day one. He’s too good to be left on the bench and has so much to offer with his athletic ability.

“It’s just a shame Cathal McShane is under a bit of pressure to get back, he might miss the rest of the season but at the same time I’m delighted to see Conor back.”
