Armagh and Donegal earned opening day wins in Division One, against Monaghan and Dublin, while Tyrone, Derry and Cavan all had tough outings in Division Two.

Down were five-point winners over Clare in Division Three, while Fermanagh lost out to Wexford. In Division Four, Antrim suffered a first round loss at the hands of Carlow.
