THE game of the weekend in Antrim between the league champions and the Shamrocks who they pipped at the post. Loughgiel are at home and after hitting six goals against Carey, they’ll have their hands full with a Rossa team who pushed Cushendall all the way.

Verdict: Loughgiel

Cushendall v Carey

Sunday, Glenravel, 3.30pm

BRIAN Delargy’s side head into this clash with a win under their belt and one they had to dig deep for. It was 2-8 form Neil McManus that made all the difference. After winning the Ulster Intermediate title last season, it’s a testing campaign for Carey.

Verdict: Cushendall

GROUP 2

Naomh Éanna v Dunloy

Friday, Dunsilly, 7pm

SEAAN Elliott was the Dunloy star as they maintained their impressive record in both codes with victory over Ballycastle with the wee ball. If they can back it up with an expected win on Friday night, they can focus on knock-out hurling. Naomh Éanna had a draw with St John’s but this is a step into the heat.

Verdict: Dunloy

Ballycastle v St John’s

Sunday, Dunloy, 2pm

THE JOHNNIES had a draw in their opening game with Ballycastle falling to Dunloy. A tight game here in prospect as the group heats up. The bottom team will miss out of the knock-out stages. St John’s might come through here. A tough call.

Verdict: St John’s

ANTRIM INTERMEDIATE HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP

GROUP 1

Creggan v Sarsfields

Saturday, Creggan, 6pm

CREGGAN have a win under their belt so far at welcome Sarsfields this weekend. The Kickhams were five-point winners when they met in the league and finished towards the top. The Paddies finished rock bottom. It’s hard to see an upset.

Verdict: Creggan

Rasharkin v Clooney Gaels

Saturday, Rasharkin, 6pm

LIAM Tunney’s goalkeeping was the winning of the game for Rasharkin in their opening game. Jimmy O’Connell hit the equaliser against St Paul’s to maintain Clooney’s unbeaten start. They’ll be a tough nut for Rasharkin to crack in Dreen.

Verdict: Clooney Gaels

GROUP 2

Cushendun v Glenarm

Friday, Cushendall, 7pm

SHANE O’Neill’s are one of three teams to have won all their games. Cushendun were narrowly beaten by the other two, setting up a must-win game to keep themselves in the hunt for a chance at the top two and a semi-final spot.

Verdict: Cushendun

St Gall’s v Cloughmills

Saturday, Randalstown, 6pm

NEITHER team registered a championship point from their two opening games. Now it gets real. Another defeat would spell the end. St Gall’s were winners in the league meeting and could repeat the dose.

Verdict: St Gall’s

Tír na nÓg v Glenariffe

Sunday, Ahoghill, 2pm

BOTH teams won their opening game and Glenariffe are coming off a fine league season and were Ulster Minor champions last season. This will be a tight one. Glenariffe were narrow winners in the league. They might just edge this one too.

Verdict: Glenariffe

ANTRIM JUNIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP

GROUP 1

St Brigid’s v Ardoyne

Friday, St Brigid’s, 7pm

THE teams drew in the league and this is a vital game at the bottom of the table to stay in the title race with the bottom team not making the knock-out stages. Home advantage could swing this one.

Verdict: St Brigid’s

Davitt’s v Glenravel

Saturday, Davitt’s, 6pm

GLENRAVEL have two wins from two and it’s hard to imagine them slipping up. Davitt’s have an inferior score difference to Ardoyne as it stands on head-to-head.

Verdict: Glenravel

THE top team in the group advances to the semi-final. Both teams have won both their games but Gort na Mona have Glen Rovers on score difference with the latter five-point winners in the league clash.
