Cavan championship action continues

There is a full round of football action this weekend in Cavan.

Here are the details at the time of going to print.

Check the Cavan website for any changes before travelling.

CAVAN INTERMEDIATE CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND THREE

Ballymachugh v Cootehill

Friday, Kingspan Breffni, 8pm

SOMETHING has to give this Friday night as Ballymachugh and Cootehill put their winning records on the line. Both have four points to their name so it’s a particularly tricky one to call.

Verdict: Cootehill

Shercock v Cornafean

Saturday, Ballyhaise, 5pm

ANOTHER finely tuned fixture. Shercock are yet to win a game, and that might change this weekend, but we’ll go for Cornafean.

Verdict: Cornafean

Lavey v Denn

Saturday, Kingspan Breffni, 7pm

LAVEY have endured a disappointing campaign to date but they still have time to turn things around. That won’t be easy though on Saturday.

Verdict: Denn

Killinkere v Drumlane

Sunday, Kingspan Breffni, 5pm

KILLINKERE were full value for their recent win over Cornafean, while Drumlane are still pointless after two fixtures. The smart money’s on Killinkere.

Verdict: Killinkere

Cuchulainn’s v Drumgoon

Sunday, O’Raghallaigh Park, 4.30pm

CUCHULAINN’S are top of the table on points difference and their unbeaten run should continue against a Drumgoon still searching for their first win of the campaign.

Verdict: Cuchulainn’s

Knockbride v Butlersbridge

Sunday, Kingspan Breffni, 7pm

THE championship hasn’t been kind to Knockbride to date and it’s hard to see that changing against a Butlersbridge team who are bidding for their third successive win.

Verdict: Butlersbridge

CAVAN JUNIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND FOUR

Kill v Redhills

Sunday, Hugh O’Reilly Memorial Park, 2.30pm

KILL are already assured of qualification but they’ll want to finish as high up the table as possible so they’re still likely to put in a strong performance against Redhills.

Verdict: Kill

Killeshandra v Kildallan

Sunday, Drumlane, 2.30pm

NEITHER team has fared well heading into the final round. Kildallan are yet to pick up a single point, though Killeshandra do at least have a draw to show for their efforts. Tough one to call.

Verdict: Killeshandra

Swanlinar v Mountnugent

Sunday, Butlersbridge, 2.30pm

SWANLINBAR are third in the table with two wins from three games. Mountnugent have struggled and it’s hard to see them outscoring Swanlinbar this Sunday.

Verdict: Swanlinbar

Templeport v Belturbet

Sunday, Kingspan Breffni, 2.30pm

THIS could be a cracking game between two evenly matched teams. On current form it’s very hard to pick a winner, but we’ll give a hesitant shout to Belturbet.

Verdict: Belturbet

Shannon Gaels v Drumalee

Sunday, Cornafean, 2.30pm

SHANNON Gaels have been the form team alongside Kill and will finish top of the table with a win over Drumalee. It’d be a big surprise if they fail to do so.

Verdict: Shannon Gaels

Drung v Munterconnaught

Sunday, Lavey, 2.30pm

DRUNG have done well winning two of their three games to date while Munterconnaught are only one spot behind them in the table ahead of the final round. A 50/50 contest.

Verdict: Drung
