Derry name squad for Monaghan showdown

By Michael McMullan

DERRY manager Ciarán Meenagh has named an unchanged team for Saturday’s Ulster Championship semi-final clash with Monaghan in Armagh’s BOX-IT Athletic Grounds.

The game will throw-in at 5pm and will exclusively live on GAA+.

It’s the Oakleafers’ first semi-final since their 2023 win over Monaghan in Omagh on their way to retaining the Anglo Celt Cup.

Dan Higgins (hamstring) and Matthew Downey (groin) remain on the injured list after missing out on the Antrim game.

Goalkeeper Odhrán Lynch is also on his way back from injury with u-20 duo James Sargent and Eamon Young also still injured.

Ballinascreen’s Martin Bradley broke into the team last year but has also been hampered by injury this season.

Monaghan have also named an unchanged lineup and will go into the games boosted by their victory after Cavan after a tough league campaign that saw them relegation from Division Two.

Armagh and Down will lock horns on Sunday in the other semi-final in Clones.
