Derry team named for All-Ireland clash against Dublin

By Michael McMullan

DERRY manager Paddy Tally has named his squad for Saturday’s All-Ireland SFC clash with Dublin in Páirc Esler.

There is a return for goalkeeper Odhrán Lynch for the first time since a quad injury forced him out of the Mayo defeat earlier in the season.

He comes in for Ben McKinless as the only change from the draw with Galway.

There is another boost with the return of his Magherafelt clubmate Conor McCluskey who has been named in the 26 for the first time this season.

It’s a first championship clash of the counties since Dublin’s 2007 All-Ireland quarter-final win over the Oakleafers in Croke Park.

With reigning champions Armagh already guaranteed a quarter-final spot as group winners, Derry, Galway and Dublin are facing off for the remaining two spots.

Derry: Odhrán Lynch; Diarmuid Baker, Eoin McEvoy, Patrick McGurk; Conor Doherty, Brendan Rogers, Paudi McGrogan; Conor Glass, Dan Higgins; Ethan Doherty, Paul Cassidy, Ciaran McFaul; Shane McGuigan, Niall Loughlin, Niall Toner

Subs: Ben McKinless, Conor McCluskey, Ryan Mulholland, Danny McDermott, Tommy Rogers, Anton Tohill, Ruairí Forbes, Lachlan Murray, Cahir McMonagle, Caolan Devlin, Ben McCarron

This week’s Gaelic Lives previews the final round of group games in the All-Ireland SFC with Michael Kennedy, a Tyrone man and part of Dublin’s All-Ireland winning management team under Pat Gilroy and Jim Gavin.
