Details of another weekend championship action in the Oriel County

There is a full round of football action this weekend in Monaghan.

Here are the details of the games at the time of going to print.

Check the Monaghan website for any changes before travelling.

MONAGHAN SENIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND THREE

GROUP 1

CREMARTIN V CORDUFF

Saturday, Cremartin, 6.30pm

CORDUFF bounced back from their first round defeat to Clontibret with a huge victory over Truagh while Cremartin have lost their one and only outing to Truagh. That maths would suggest an away win for Seamus McEnaney’s men.

Verdict: Corduff

TRUAGH V SCOTSTOWN

Sunday, Truagh, 5pm

A REPEAT of the 2021 county final, Truagh have been relegated and bounced back up since then while Scotstown remain the team to beat in the county and should get their first victory of the campaign.

Verdict: Scotstown

GROUP 2

BALLYBAY V AUGHNAMULLEN

Saturday, Ballybay, 3.30pm

BALLYBAY have been decimated with injuries and whoever loses this game on Saturday will find it very tough to reach the knockout stages. Aughnamullen are away from home, but are possibly the favourites.

Verdict: Aughnamullen

INNISKEEN V MAGHERACLOONE

Sunday, Inniskeen, 2pm

THIS has the potential to be the game of the weekend. Magheracloone reached the league final but lost to Latton in the first round while Inniskeen have won both of their clashes so they hold the upper hand here.

Verdict: Inniskeen

MONAGHAN INTERMEDIATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND THREE

GROUP 1

DOOHAMLET V TOOME

Saturday, Doohamlet, 3.30pm

NEITHER side have picked up any points in the championship so far, although Doohamlet have played one less game than Saturday’s opponents. Doohamlet will look to get off the mark on home turf this week and they should.

Verdict: Doohamlet

DONAGHMOYNE V DRUMHOWAN

Saturday, Donaghmoyne, 8.30pm

DONAGHMOYNE are one of two teams in the group with maximum points from their opening two fixtures, while Drumhowan lost their one and only game so far. Donaghmoyne will be confident of striking a third successive win.

Verdict: Donaghmoyne

GROUP 2

CASTLEBLAYNEY V MONAGHAN HARPS

Sunday, Castleblayney, 2pm

BLAYNEY are top of the pile in Group Two with an unbeaten record after two games but Monaghan Harps will possibly provide their toughest test to date.

Verdict: Castleblayney

KILLANNY V TYHOLLAND

Sunday, Killanny, 5pm

BOTH sides have one point on the board after earning draws on the opening day so home advantage could have a big say here and sway things in Killanny’s favour.

Verdict: Killanny

MONAGHAN JUNIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND THREE

GROUP 1

SEAN MCDERMOTT’S V EMYVALE

Sunday, Sean McDermott’s, 2pm

THEY are the top two teams in the group so far and this tie could decide a lot in terms of the final placings. Emyvale are away from home, but they may just have enough to get over the line.

Verdict: Emyvale

CURRIN V KILLEEVAN

Sunday, Currin, 5pm

AFTER two games, Killeevan have zero points to show for their efforts and it’s difficult to see them changing that record when they travel to Currin on Sunday evening.

Verdict: Currin

GROUP 2

AGHABOG V ORAM

Saturday, Aghabog, 3.30pm

BOTH sides have zero points on the board so far, although Aghabog have played a game less. Home comforts could count for a lot on Saturday which may point to an Aghabog win.

Verdict: Aghabog

EIRE OG V BLACKHILL

Saturday, Eire Og, 6.30pm

EIRE Og are two from two and look the best bet to top the group at this early stage and with home advantage against Blackhill, they’ll want to earn a third win on the trot.

Verdict: Eire Og
