TWO-TIME Tyrone All-Ireland winner Gavin Devlin is expected to be appointed as Louth manager in the coming days.
The Ardboe native, Gaelic Life understands, is set to link up once again with Peter Dooley having worked with the senior squad when Mickey Harte was in charge. Dooley was also part of Ger Brennan’s coaching ticket this year as they claimed the Leinster title with the Dublin man stepping down after their All-Ireland loss to Donegal.
While Harte made a shock exit for an ill-fated season with Derry, Devlin ultimately returned to the Wee County as underage football development co-ordinator.
Armagh native Fergal Reel, who guided Louth to this season’s All-Ireland U-20 final where they lost to Tyrone, is expected to stay with that underage team for 2026 with high hopes in Louth that they can retain their provincial crown.
It is understood that the Silverbridge native will be helping out with his home club for the rest of the club season following Bernie Murray’s mid-season exit.
Ciaran Meenagh, meanwhile, has been linked with the vacant Derry job following Paddy Tally’s exit.
Meenagh has previously taken on the mantle on an interim basis. Meenagh is currently part of Conor Laverty’s Down management team and despite suggestions to the contrary, Gaelic Life understands that he has not stepped away from that role as of yet.
