Donegal name their pack for Ulster final rematch with Armagh

By Michael McMullan

DONEGAL have named their team for Saturday’s Ulster final with Armagh, a repeat of last year’s final and the last hurdle in their title defence.

It’s an unchanged starting 15 from their win over Down with Caolan McGonagle and Mark Curran added to the bench after spells with injury since their win over Derry.

The sides met in last year’s Ulster final with Odhrán Doherty’s last gasp point saving Donegal, taking the tie to penalties.

After five converted penalties each, Aaron Doherty nailed his second kick in sudden death before Shaun Patton’s save from Shane McPartlan took the Anglo Celt Cup to the hills.

The game is sold out and will be preceded by the Ulster Senior Ladies final (3pm) between the same counties.

The winners will face into a group with Mayo, Tyrone and Cavan in the All-Ireland SFC race when it begins. The losers will be paired with Galway, Dublin and Derry.

Donegal: Shaun Patton, Finnbarr Roarty, Brendan McCole, Peadar Mogan, Ryan McHugh, Stephen McMenamin, Ciarán Moore, Ciarán Thompson, Michael Langan, Dáire Ó Baoill, Conor O’Donnell, Shane O’Donnell, Patrick McBrearty, Michael Murphy, Oisín Gallen

Subs: Gavin Mulreaney, Mark Curran, Odhrán McFadden Ferry, Aaron Doherty, Odhrán Doherty, Eoin McHugh, Jason McGee, Jamie Brennan, Hugh McFadden, Niall O’Donnell, Caolan McGonagle
