Down appoint Benny Coulter as their new minor manager

DOWN have appointed former senior star Benny Coulter as their new minor football manager.

The Mayobridge All-Star was on the county’s 1999 winning minor team and came close to adding a senior medal when the county lost the 2010 decider to Cork.

Coulter – who is currently the manager of Rostrevor – was ratified at a Monday’s meeting of the County Committee.

“The management team will include recent county senior players Darren O’Hagan (Clonduff) and Donal O’Hare (Burren), as well as Martin McKibben (Castlewellan),” outlined a statement from Down GAA.

“Members of this season’s U16 Development squad management will also form part of the coaching and backroom team.”

It follows the news of Conor Laverty being appointed as the Down senior manager, while also overseeing the u-20 squad.
