Dunloy appoint Elliott and Richmond on joint ticket

DUNLOY have appointed Shane Elliott and Liam Richmond as their new senior hurling management.

The two former championship winners are joint managers and take over after Gregory O’Kane stepped down.

O’Kane had been involved in all of Dunloy’s senior hurling successes, either as a player or a manager.

Speaking the on the Gaelic Lives podcast, he indicated this was always going to be his last season.

Former goalkeeper Shane Elliott has had recent manager experience in Derry with Kevin Lynch’s, was involved with Antrim’s camogs.

He is also part of Michael McShane’s management teams with the Antrim u-20s.

Richmond was a decorated hurler with club and county, playing alongside Elliott on many of Dunloy’s successful teams in their history.

Now as a management duo, their goal will be to get the Volunteer Cup back after Cushendall’s recent run of success.

They will be hoping Conal Cunning has a successful recovery from his knee injury.

‘Coby’ went under the knife this week to have his cruciate ligament repaired.

He faces a battle to get back for club action with new Antrim manager Davy Fitzgerald also keeping tabs on his progress.
