Five Monaghan changes for McKenna Cup semi-final

By Michael McMullan

GABRIEL Bannigan has made five changes to his side for Wednesday’s Dr McKenna Cup semi-final (Inniskeen 7.30pm)

Goalkeeper Jack Kiernan, Darragh Treanor, Dessie Ward, skipper Mícheál Bannigan and newcomer Alistair Stewart come in.

Stewart played in Emyvale’s run to the Ulster junior final with clubmate Karl Gallagher one of five players named to start all three games in the McKenna Cup to date.

The others are Cameron Dowd in his first season along with inside forward trio Andrew Woods, Stephen Mooney and David Garland.

The Scotstown players are still out of contention but last year’s debutant Aaron Carey is named in the squad for first time.

Monaghan are in the process of planning for a return to Division One with clash against Armagh later his month.

The winners will play whoever comes through from Donegal in Derry on Saturday in the final.
