Gaelic Life team of the week

AFTER another weekend of action across all codes, here is our latest Gaelic Life Team of the Week.

All the Ulster counties were in hurling championship action. In the big ball code, we had plenty of drama as Derry, Donegal, Tyrone and Cavan locked horns in an Ulster SFC double bill.

Here is our selection…

1 SHAUN PATTON Donegal

His kick-outs were outstanding until his injury, a real weapon for Donegal and one Derry couldn’t deal with.

2 BRIAN MCCONNELL Cavan

Scored two from play, including the effort to force extra-time. and won a large volume of scrappy ball. A very good display.

3 BRENDAN MCCOLE Donegal

Another good outing on Shane McGuigan, he seems made for that role.

4 MATT CONLAN Down

Hardly surprising these days but absolutely brilliant against Meath.

5 RYAN MCHUGH Donegal

Set the tone, especially in the first half, with brilliant piercing runs. Scored two points.

6 MATTIE DONNELLY   Tyrone

Started super deep and excelled before moving further out and also impressing.

7 MICHAEL MCKERNAN Tyrone

Usual all-action display. Scored two points.

8 JASON MCGEE Donegal

Dominated his battle with Conor Glass, a near impossible task.

9 AARON FOX Armagh

Got up for two points in the narrow win over Louth.

10 DÁIRE Ó BAOILL Donegal

The two-goal hero also scored a point and blocked and harried all day.

11 GERARD GILMORE Donegal

Outstanding in the impressive win over Mayo. Two wins from two now for Mickey McCann’s side.

12 PAIGE SMYTH Down

The talented rugby player covered an immense amount of ground in the win over Cavan.

13 DARRAGH CANAVAN Tyrone

It really is like watching his father at his best. Four from play to add to seven points overall.

14 TIM PRENTER Down

Hit a fantastic 2-2 in the home win over Meath in the Joe McDonagh Cup.

15 DARRAGH MCGILLIGAN Derry

Scored five points against Tyrone and pulled the strings.
