Gaelic Life team of the week

AFTER another weekend of action across all codes, here is our latest Gaelic Life Team of the Week.

Armagh needed extra-time to see off Donegal in the Ulster ladies final with Down and Fermanagh winning their respective finals.

There was a disappointing return in the Sam Maguire Cup but there were three Ulster wins in the Tailteann Cup with Derry, Donegal and Fermanagh all through to hurling finals.

It took extra-time, every sinew and then penalties for Donegal to take an Ulster title against an Armagh team who offered so much.

Tyrone u-20s finish off what they started with Derry and Armagh booking spots in the Ulster minor final.

Here is our selection…

1  SEÁN MCNALLY Fermanagh

Some important blocks and good under the high ball in the narrow win over Carlow.

2 JOEY CLARKE Tyrone

All-action display as Tyrone claimed All-Ireland U-20 honours against Kerry.

3 RONAN CANAVAN Derry

Barely put a foot wrong at full-back as Derry eventually powered past Tyrone minors.

4 DECLAN LYNCH Antrim

Got forward for a point in the hard-fought win over Wexford.

5 DANIEL GUINNESS Down

The in-form Carryduff man had another fine outing over in London.

6 CORMAC MUNROE Tyrone

Rock solid at the back as Tyrone defeated Wicklow in the Christy Ring Cup.

7 LISA MAGUIRE  Fermanagh

A newer half-back role but the starring player as Fermanagh won Ulster.

8 EIMEAR FITZPATRICK  Down

Massive performance, including 1-3, proved crucial as Down held off Monaghan’s comeback.

9 MEEHAUL MCGRATH Derry

Kept the scoreboard ticking over as Derry walloped Sligo.

10 EOIN MCELHOLM   Tyrone

It’s unfair for a youngster to already have so much silverware. Deadly again, as Kerry found out.

11 AOIFE MCCOY Armagh

Armagh weren’t at their best against Donegal – but the line-breaker was absolutely superb.

12 JAMES MCCOOE Armagh

Crucial goal but linked so much too in the impressive minor win in Donegal.

13 SUSANNE WHITE Donegal

Brought the game to Armagh, but they came up just short in the end.

14 TOMAS GALVIN Armagh

The talented youngster racked up 2-7 in Armagh’s Nickey Rackard Cup win over Monaghan.

15 NIAMH HENDERSON Armagh

Some crucial scores got Armagh over the line in the Ulster final.
