Gaelic Life Team of the Week

THE championship action was in full flow last weekend as the action begins to heat up towards the business end.

Here is our selection of the star players from games involving Ulster teams.

1  RONAN BURNS Down

Making a name for himself as a real shot-stopper but Donegal were too strong.

2 RYAN HILFERTY Donegal

Really good in the tackle and first touch excellent as the Tir Chonaill County blitzed Tyrone.

3 BRENDAN McCOLE Donegal

Matched up well to Ryan McEvoy and was a calming influence throughout.

4 JAMES BRADY Monaghan

No. 4 on his back but rattled off a number of scores against Warwickshire.

5 ROSS MCQUILLAN Armagh

Under the radar, but now one of Armagh’s most important players.

6 STEPHEN SHERIDAN Cavan

Up from the back for a goal as Cavan’s Lory Meagher winning run continued.

7 EUGENE BRANAGAN Down

Drifted everywhere against Donegal and finished with 0-3.

8 CALLUM O’NEILL Armagh

Has made the midfield jersey his own with fine back-to-back displays.

9 MICHAEL LANGAN Donegal

Won the battle with Odhrán Murdock and had a hand in Donegal’s goal.

10 EVA MCNEILL Antrim

Player of the Match as Antrim’s minors won the All-Ireland A Shield.

11 RORY GRUGAN Armagh

Ran the show against Tyrone – in the form of his life for Kieran McGeeney’s side and was brilliant at Clones.

12 PAULA O’HAGAN Down

Came out on just the wrong side of the result, but inspirational in the Ulster semi-final loss to Antrim.

13 THERESA MELLON Antrim

Two goals as the Saffrons started their Ulster JFC campaign with a win over Derry.

14 PATRICK MCBREARTY Donegal

Looking sharp at just the right time, Armagh have been warned.

15 DARREN MCCURRY Tyrone

Destroyed the Armagh full-back line, they couldn’t get near him. Unlucky to come out on the losing side.
