Kilcoo’s opening step in title defence revealed

THE Down SFC draw was made on Tuesday night, with All-Ireland champions Kilcoo drawn to face Clonduff.

It’s a repeat of the 2016 decider won by the Magpies, 3-11 to 0-9, with Aaron Morgan, Daryll Branagan and Ceilum Doherty finding the net.

Burren won the title in 2018, stopping Kilcoo’s quest for a seventh successive title, and they take on Mayobridge.

The Championship will be played on a ‘back door’ format in late August.

Kilcoo – who are bidding for a fourth successive title – will be under the management of Conleith Gilligan and Richie Thornton after Mickey Moran stepped down following their All-Ireland success.

Round 1
Glen v Bredagh
Burren v Mayobridge
Loughanisland v Castlewellan
Warrenpoint v Saul
Kilcoo v Clonduff
Ballyholland v Longstone
Downpatrick v An Riocht
Carryduff v Bryansford
