Owenbeg to host Tyrone and Donegal

By Michael McMullan

REIGNING All-Ireland champions Tyrone will face Donegal in Wednesday’s Ulster U-20 final at Owenbeg (7.30pm).

Three second half goals made the difference as the Red Hands saw off the challenge of Derry in the semi-final.

The sides were level four times in the first half before Derry went 0-9 to 0-5 with two minutes to the break.

Ruairi McCullagh’s kicking took them back to within a point at the break before Cónán Devlin hit the net in the first move of the second half.

A Conor O’Neill goal put Tyrone four points clear midway through the second half with Eoin McElholm hitting a third goal.

Derry hit late two pointers from Ruairí Forbes and Ger Dillon but it wasn’t enough.

Tyrone will face a rampant Donegal in the decider after they saw off Cavan on Wednesday night.

Seanan Carr continues to light it up for the Tír Chonaill County who also used senior player Finnbarr Roarty as a second half sub.

The final is a rematch of the group game won by Donegal earlier in the season in Ballybofey.

Tyrone are eying a 17th Ulster title at this grade while Donegal have not won since 2017 when. A victory would take them to third in the roll of honour on nine wins.
