Players have their say on semi-professionalism

Last week, Jamie Clarke suggested that semi-professionalism was coming to the GAA.

He said that the ability was there for the GAA to pay players, and it needed to happen in order to recognise the effort that county players are putting into the game.

As a follow up to that issue, we asked three players to give their opinion on the matter. Fermanagh’s Eoin McManus, Donegal’s Paul Brennan and Down’s Peter Fegan.

We asked them if they felt that players were getting the recognition they deserved, if semi-professionalism would solve the problem, if they thought a debate should be opened, and if they thought players would get paid.

The players answered, but they didn’t agree with everything, however they did agree that they felt that semi-professionalism would be implemented at some point.

Find out what they said in the current issue.
