QUB duo named on Team of the Year

QUEEN’S University Belfast have two players named in the 2026 Electric Ireland GAA Higher Education Championship Football Team of the Year.

Tyrone’s Conor O’Neill along with Antrim forward Ryan McQuillan have been included. O’Neill was named at centerfield while McQuillan was selected at corner forward.

Both men have represented their counties in the National League throughout the season and McQuillan rattled the net last weekend when the Saffron County overpowered Waterford to keep their slim promotion hopes alive.

QUB, managed by Feargal Logan and Dan McCartan, reached the semi-finals of the Sigerson Cup and lost out to eventual champions University of Limerick, after extra-time.

UL won the competition for the first time ever and they dominate the Team of the Year. Seven of their players have been selected, beaten finalists University College Cork had five named, while there was one University of Galway player included as well.
