Strong engagement for LGFA schemes

ULSTER LGFA continues to support the delivery of LGFA’s participation and retention initiatives, with strong engagement from clubs across the province in both the Gaelic4Girls (G4G), sponsored by Glenveagh Homes, and Gaelic4Teens (G4T) programmes.

Four clubs successfully delivered the Gaelic4Girls programme, introducing girls aged 7–12 to Ladies Gaelic Football through a fun and welcoming 10-week programme of coaching sessions and non-competitive blitzes.

Designed to attract new players to clubs, the initiative helps participants develop their skills, build confidence and enjoy their first experience of Gaelic football in a positive environment.

As part of this year’s programme, every participating club welcomed a visit from a Gaelic4Girls Ambassador, giving players and coaches the opportunity to learn from experienced inter-county players while creating memorable experiences for everyone involved.

Building on this player pathway, nine clubs from across the province were selected to participate in the 2026 Gaelic4Teens programme.

This coach education initiative supports clubs in retaining girls aged 13–17 by enhancing coaching practices and creating positive, player-centred environments that encourage girls to remain involved in Ladies Gaelic Football during their teenage years.

As part of the programme, all nine participating clubs also received an on-site coaching session from a Gaelic4Teens Ambassador, providing coaches and players with the opportunity to learn from some of the LGFA’s leading inter-county players.

Together, these programmes play an important role in supporting clubs to grow participation, develop coaches and provide enjoyable, inclusive environments where girls can thrive both on and off the pitch. Ulster LGFA extends its thanks to all participating clubs for their continued commitment to developing our game across the province and taking part in all our programmes.

l Clubs interested in learning more about the Gaelic4Girls or Gaelic4Teens programmes, or expressing an interest in future programmes, are encouraged to contact Ulster LGFA Development Manager Micheala Moran ([email protected]) for any further information.
