Tyrone edge out Monaghan to book final spot

ULSTER U-20 FC SEMI-FINAL
Tyrone 2-9 Monaghan 0-14

A LATE Shea O’Hare score proved the winner as Tyrone held off a Stephen Mooney led Monaghan to book their final spot.

The Red Hands will play Derry in the final in Armagh next Wednesday night.

It was a rematch of the group game then Tyrone hammered a second string Monaghan side in Coalisland.

Cormac Devlin hit the net with the first attack but Mooney, Kian Duffy and Oisin McGorman were on target for Monaghan.

Mooney ended up with 10 points in all, like in their quarter-final win, but it was Tyrone who led 1-5 to 0-7 at half time.

Ronan Fox hit a goal early in the second half for Tyrone, putting them 2-5 to 0-8 ahead.

They needed a Joey Clarke interception when Monaghan sniffed for goal.

Mooney kept pinging frees for the Farney side but Eoin McElholm, Ruairi McCullagh continued the Loughmacrory influence on Tyrone’s win.
