Tyrone stars of the noughties pull on their boots to official open state of the art Stewartstown facility

TYRONE All-Ireland winning captain Peter Canavan is one a number of former Red Hand stars pulling the boots back on this Saturday.

To mark GAA President Jarlath Burns officially opening their playing facilities and state-of-the-art new stand, Stewartstown Harps team of 2005 are taking on a Tyrone team of the decade on Saturday afternoon.

It also marks as the 20-year anniversary of Tyrone’s 2005 All-Ireland success and they’ll be wearing a customised strip to mark the occasion.

2025 also coincides with Stewartstown Harps 20-year anniversary of their All-Ireland Club junior final appearance Kerry’s Finuge, the club of Paul Galvin and Éamonn Fitzmaurice.

The Harps went on to win the Tyrone Intermediate Championship the following season and bring the club back to senior football.

The new facilities create a platform for the club to create more success and a return to Division One football.

After Burns cuts the ribbon, officially open the grounds, there will be a private meal for 250 invited guests/VIPs, sponsors and club members.

Afterwards former All-Ireland winning Tyrone senior manager and Stewartstown man Feargal Logan will take part in a chat show with Peter Canavan and other Tyrone All Stars.

Stewartstown extend an open welcome to everyone for our exhibition games from 12.30pm to 4pm and watch Tyrone’s golden generation of footballers in an exceptional playing facility.

Details
Ladies – 12.30pm – Harps under 25’s versus Harps over 25’s.

Men 2pm – Tyrone ‘Team of the Decade’ the “Noughties Boys” versus Stewartstown Harps 2005/2006 team.

There will be underage action at half time of both games.

Attending and playing are: Peter Canavan, Owen Mulligan, Brian McGuigan, Ryan McMenamin, Chris Lawn, Collie Holmes, Mark Donnelly, Martin Penrose, Colm McCullagh, Colm Cavanagh, Brendy Donnelly and Leo Meenan.
