Ulster GAA brings the Wheelchair Hurling and Camogie League to Letterkenny

Ulster GAA will welcome players from across the four provinces to Donegal this Saturday, September 19, as Round Four of the GAA Wheelchair Hurling and Camogie Interprovincial League takes place at ATU Letterkenny.

It will be the first time the competition has come to Letterkenny, with Ulster hosting the fourth and final league round of the season ahead of the All-Ireland Finals in October.

Six games will be played throughout the day, beginning at 11am when Ulster take on Leinster.

There is plenty at stake heading into the final round. Ulster currently sit at the top of the league table on 37 points, followed by Leinster on 31, Munster on 27 and Connacht on 17.

There is also a strong Donegal connection to the Ulster set-up, with Burt’s Paul Callaghan among the province’s coaches along with Shane McCann of Tyrone.

For GAA for All National Chairperson Tanya Roberts Browne, from Downings, seeing the competition come to her home county is particularly special.

“I’m really delighted to see Ulster GAA bring the league to Letterkenny. We’ve travelled to different parts of the country throughout the year, so having a round here in Donegal is something I’m very proud of,” she outlined.

“Inclusion within the GAA is something I’m hugely passionate about, and days like this give people an opportunity to actually come in, see the game and see the opportunities that are there.

“I’d love to see clubs, families and people from across Donegal call into ATU on Saturday and support the players. If you’ve never seen Wheelchair Hurling and Camogie before, come along and experience it for yourself.”

The Letterkenny round will bring together players and coaches from Ulster, Leinster, Munster and Connacht for the final opportunity to collect league points before attention turns to the All-Ireland Finals.

It will also provide an opportunity to showcase the continued growth of Wheelchair Hurling and Camogie and the wider work taking place through GAA for All to create opportunities for people of all abilities to participate in Gaelic games.

Round 4 of the GAA Wheelchair Hurling and Camogie Interprovincial League, hosted by Ulster GAA, takes place at ATU Letterkenny on Saturday, September 19. The first game gets underway at 11am and spectators are very welcome.
