Week three beckons on the Donegal championship scene

There is a full round of football action this weekend in Donegal

Here are the details at the time of going to print.

DONEGAL SENIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 3

Killybegs v Kilcar

Saturday, Killybegs, 5pm

AFTER beating St Eunan’s, Kilcar were chinned by Downings and will be keep to bounce back. Killybegs have also lost a game too. They’re at home but Kilcar will be fancied to come through this one.

Verdict: Kilcar

Downings v Naomh Conaill – Saturday, Downings, 5pm – MATCH POSTPONED

Saturday, Ardara, 7.30pm

OISÍN Gallen felt they left the drawn Glenswilly game behind them and they are one of the unbeaten teams. They’ll know all about CJ Molloy’s shooting against Naomh Conaill. A tight one here.

Verdict: MacCumhaill’s

Glenswilly v Dungloe

Sunday, Glenswilly, 1pm

MICHAEL Murphy hasn’t played since the All-Ireland final but Glenswilly are still unbeaten. Dungloe were in last year’s final and have two wins from two so far. It could change in the game of the weekend.

Gaoth Dobhair v Aodh Ruadh

Sunday, Gaoth Dobhair, 3pm

THE home side are eyeing a top four finish whereas Ballyshannon are battling with the relegation zone. Domhnall Mac Giolla Bhríde and Dáire Ó Baoill got game time last weekend. It might be their first start this time.

St Eunan’s v St Naul’s

Sunday, St Eunan’s, 3pm

THE champions against a team yet to get a point on the board. Shane O’Donnell has yet to feature for St Eunan’s. St Naul’s will need big games from their county players. The time is now.

Four Masters v Glenfin

Sunday, Four Masters, 5pm

A TRICKY game has been made trickier for Glenfin after Four Masters losing last week. At home, the Donegal Town side will be looking for a response after their league promise.

St Michael’s v Termon

Sunday, St Michael’s, 5pm

AN intriguing game beckons at the Bridge. Termon won the league and put in a fine performance to beat Four Masters. It’s a hard one to call. Michael Langan will have a big say after kicking 0-11 last week.

DONEGAL INTERMEDIATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 3

Burt v Bundoran

Saturday, Burt, 5pm

BUNDORAN lost to Uisce Chaoin but feel one of their ‘points’ was a two pointer. They’ll have to park the questions to focus on getting a result away from home this weekend. Burt had a fine win over Fanad last week.

Verdict: Bundoran

Malin v Fanad Gaels

Saturday, Malin, 6pm

MALIN are one of the unbeaten sides and were pegged back by Uisce Chaoin late on last week. They finished bottom of the league but home advantage may be a factor this weekend.

Buncrana v Uisce Chaoin

Sunday, Buncrana, 2pm

EUNAN Mullan fisted an equaliser for Uisce Chaoin last weekend. This is a derby game and it could be dominated by the Caolans – McColgan and McGonigle. Toss of a coin here.

Verdict: Draw

Naomh Columba v Na Rossa

Sunday, Naomh Columba, 4pm,

TOP faces bottom as Na Rossa are struggling to find form and they’ll need it this weekend. The home side have two wins to their name and fancied to make it three. A title contender.

Red Hugh’s v Milford

Sunday, Red Hugh’s, 4pm,

RED Hugh’s are level on four points at the top with Naomh Columba and welcome Milford who have one win to their name. The home side could make it a third successive win.

Cloughaneely v Naomh Muire

Sunday, Cloughaneely, 6pm

NAOMH Muire were winners over neighbours Na Rossa but were edged out by Red Hugh’s. Cloughaneely are a different side without Jason McGee. Naomh Muire were promoted to Division One but now it’s championship time.

DONEGAL JUNIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 3GROUP A

Robert Emmet’s v Urris

Saturday, Robert Emmet’s, 3pm

THE Emmet’s were victorious against Pettigo and go in as favourites this weekend with Urris having lost their opening two games. Urris were awarded a walkover in the league fixture.

Verdict: Robert Emmet’s

Pettigo v Lifford

Sunday, Pettigo, 3pm

LIFFORD’S only win came in the league against Na Rossa. Pettigo had a better campaign overall, are at home and could win this one.

Naomh Bríd v Convoy

Sunday, Naomh Bríd, 5pm

BOTH teams won their first two games. Convoy were playing at a higher level but finished bottom of Division Two. Little to chose between them.

GROUP B

Naomh Ultan v Moville

Sunday, Naomh Ultan, 2pm

AFTER a poor league campaign, Moville have been a championship mixed bag. Naomh Ultan pushed Carndonagh and could well pick up another win.

Letterkenny Gaels v Carndonagh

Sunday, Letterkenny Gaels, 5pm

CARN are the fancied horse and with Conor O’Donnell, they’ll be hard to reel in. The Gaels were winners over Naomh Colmcille but they’ve a tougher ask on Sunday.
