When the weekend comes, the wheels start shaking. Test of the week with my coach Pauric, try and be better when Saturday (and Sunday) comes.
It’s long been an issue for me. Monday to Friday I can be good but over the weekend, I allow standards to slip. It’s something that’s pretty much built in, so it’ll probably take a bit of time to weed out. All I have on this weekend is a birthday party for nephew Shea, a possible trip to Croke Park and wall-to-wall Masters coverage. What could go wrong?
“Trial and error,” is a big phrase from the Level Up crew. Admitting to being too ready for takeaways at the weekend is not deemed a failure, but an opportunity to assess and improve. Again, I like this attitude because it quickly takes away any guilt associated but you don’t just move on either. It’s a good balance.
That’s looking forward, looking back we encountered a huge problem last week – sleep patterns.
Some commitments and other issues meant that I had a week of no sleep, or the sleep I did try to get was very disrupted. The result was that for half the week I was in zombie mode and the thought of a gym or even trying to be healthy was making me want to feed on brains.
Things improved in the latter half of the week and it was back to the gym. The fact that I had the hot tub to myself afterwards was an added bonus.
I’ve always been a night owl, but it’s only when you’re trying to get to the gym do you really get to appreciate the importance of a good sleep pattern.
If only I was a Man United fan, I think nodding off would become a lot handier then. “Sadly Liverpool has my heart, and they’re doing mad things to it.
So, now onto the big weekend and that scary word – ‘fakeaway.’ Wish me luck!
