PG the PT – Ladies players should lift more weights

Dublin and Mayo are two teams who understand lifting weights

In his column in this week’s Gaelic Life, Pauric Grimes explains why ladies players should do more weight training.

He thinks many girls are put off by the thought of pumping iron. But they are missing out on some valuable benefits.

“A by-product of a well-structured weights routine willbe an improvement in strength.

“In terms of performance, if you have a higher strength and power output your body will be capable of producing more physically.

“Lifting weights is a more effective way to burn fat than the traditional strategy of slow and steady cardio.”

And these aren’t the only ones, he illustrates a few more benefits in his column which you can read in the current issue of Gaelic Life.
