Murtagh takes over at Shane O’Neill’s

FORMER Crossmaglen forward Johnny Murtagh has been appointed as the new manager of Shane O’Neill’s.

Murtagh has managerial experience having taken Middletown and Castleblayney in recent years and played for Crossmaglen IIs in the Armagh Intermediate Championship this season.

The Crossmaglen native made ten appearances for Armagh in the 2011 season and also lined out against Galway for New York in the 2010 Connacht Championship.

Shane O’Neill’s won the Armagh Intermediate Championship last year, and following a season in senior, were relegated back to intermediate for 2024.

The Camlough men contain a number of high-quality players including county panellist Ciaran and Connaire Mackin along with Greg McCabe.

Murtagh takes over the reins from former Shane’s player Patrick Gregory and his backroom team will be made up of Mark Hughes and Colm Donnelly.

Elsewhere, ex-Armagh Harps attacker Sean Morrison, son of legendary coach John Morrison, is set to manage Down club Saval next season, taking over from Danny Hughes.
