Decision on Donegal county final to be revealed

THE Donegal County Board Competition Control Committee will today (Thursday) reveal the findings of their investigation into Kilcar’s appeal of the result of the county final.

Last Saturday, Naomh Conaill won the refixed 2020 county final after penalties.

The game finished Kilcar 0-13 Naomh Conaill 2-7. Then Naomh Conaill won the penalty shoot out 4-2.

Earlier this week Kilcar lodged an appeal about the result, based on an objection about substitutes used in the game.

The Donegal County Board met on Wednesday night to discuss the matter.

There are a number of possible outcomes if the competitions control committee find in favour of Kilcar. The game will either be replayed, Kilcar will be awarded the title, or the Naomh Conaill club will be fined.

The Kilcar management declined to comment on the matter when they were contacted this week.
