Donaghy says Kerry are jealous of Ulster teams

Kerry’s Kieran Donaghy

In the current issue of Gaelic Life Kerry forward Kieran Donaghy told Gaelic Life that they competitive nature of Ulster Championship football is something that the Kingdom men are envious of.

Donaghy – who is promoting the current Belfast Classic Basketball tournament which is taking place today and tomorrw (Friday and Saturday December 1&2) at the SSE arena – said that the Ulster Championship is a competition to be admired.

“It is the most competitive province.

“I think it gets that line ‘it’s too hard on the players to go through three or four games’,

“To be honest every Kerry player I have ever spoke to would love that. They would lov good games in May, June, July against top teams, and then come out and play in the All-Ireland Quarter-final.

“You have been tested and you are ready. This thing of tiredness is the biggest myth of all time.”

Donaghy also spoke about how important basketball has been in his career.

He also gave an update on his thoughts on whether he plans to play intercounty football next year.
